Lace shorts for men are inexplicably here — and no one seems happy about it.

On Monday, an Instagram account titled Sparkie Baby Official uploaded a photo of the pastel pink, blue, and green lace belted shorts, modeled by men wearing white socks and sneakers. “#LaceyShorts for men are here,” wrote ZJ Sparks, the owner of the Instagram account. “Would you wear these gentlemen? Ladies would you like to see your boyfriend or husband rock one of these?”

The answer from his followers was a resounding no. “Stop LOL,” wrote one commenter. Other comments included, “Who is designing these clothes?” and “First rompers, now this.”

No amount of reverse image searches yielded the origin of the photo, and ZJ Sparks did not return Yahoo Style’s request for comment. However, lace shorts for men seem like a natural extension of the RompHim (male romper) trend, which recently blew up the Internet.

In May, a group of business school students launched a Kickstarter for the RompHim, a light and airy one-piece (available for preorder on the company website) that aimed to answer the “What should I wear?” question men typically ponder before heading out to a summer concert or pool party.

The lacy shorts phenomenon is actually nothing new — in 2013, Versace male models wore black lace undies during the autumn/winter collection show in Milan.

Hey, anything to keep cool in the warm months ahead.
