On Sunday night at the 25th Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG), some of Hollywood’s biggest A-list actresses — Lady Gaga, Elisabeth Moss and Danai Gurira — wore an unexpected trend on the red carpet: white and whimsical wedding dresses. Although the gorgeous gowns may not have been specifically created for a walk down the aisle, they can easily serve as your 2019 wedding dress inspiration.
Lady Gaga, who just earned her second Oscar nomination for A Star is Born, wore a glamorous Dior haute couture gown that came fresh off the catwalk just one week prior. The frock features a sexily plunging neckline, high slit and delicately frayed feather edges. It’s a gown tailor-made for a superstar like Gaga, who wore her hair slicked back in a 1960’s style bun, and contrasted her winter white gown with a matching bold burgundy lip and polish.
The Handmaid’s Tale’s Elisabeth Moss decided to go in a different direction, playing up a Cinderella moment by wearing a voluminous polka-dot strapless gown by Monique Lhuillier. And Danai Gurira, who, along with her fellow Black Panther cast members, picked up the biggest prize on Sunday night for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, wore a fashionable feather dress by Ralph & Russo (the same designer duo behind Meghan Markle‘s unforgettable engagement photo dress).
All three dresses were equally exquisite, and each showcased a different type of bride and personality. Whether you prefer a more risqué dress like Gaga, a traditional “princess” gown like Moss or a modern bridal dress like Gurira, you’re bound to find one that speaks to you.
Below, shop the top three biggest wedding dress trends to emerge from the 25th SAG Awards.
Plunging necklines and high slits
A Grecian-inspired plunging neckline dress with a knotted twist in the center and slight, high-low hem, it’s the perfect dress for any modern bride.
If you love the high slit on Lady Gaga’s Dior haute couture gown, this PatBo version comes extremely close. Plus, it features extra tiered ruffles for a dramatic effect.
We love the simplicity on this deep V-neckline dress. The belt adds a sophisticated touch as an accessory we don’t often seen on brides.
This dress features all the bold statements from Lady Gaga’s SAG Awards look, but in lace, for the bohemian bride.
Although this Reformation dress is much simpler in design, it still includes the trademark deep V-neckline and high slit. At under $500, it’s a budget-friendly buy compared to similar bridal dresses.
Princess worthy strapless gowns
All the drama is on the back of this princess-worthy Jenny Yoo gown made of ivory taffeta.
The corset bodice on this beautiful tulle gown features hand-placed lace, sequins and a delicate pink sash around the waist. Timeless and elegant, it’s a dress that you’ll undoubtedly feel like a princess in on your big day.
This gown is for the bride who wants a dramatic wedding dress without any extra frills. Simple and timeless, the dress speaks for itself.
Bridal feather frocks
If you’re the type of nontraditional bride who wants a little flair to her dress, a feather frock is a fantastic alternative to another tulle ball gown.
For a modern and fashionable bride who wants clean lines and a simple silhouette, this Elie Saab version is for you.
Albeit a bit shorter, this dress is the spitting image of Danai Gurira’s Ralph & Russo number. If you love the idea of a feather dress, but not for your wedding ceremony, consider it for your reception dress. It packs a fashion punch — and you’ll be comfortable enough to boogie down in it, too.
