When you think about it, clocks are already pretty smart. Just glance at one and presto: You know the exact time of day. (In your face, sun dials!) Of course, modern clocks do more than just tell time; they're smart enough to recognize your voice and do things like play music and control lights.
They can also make excellent bedside companions, which brings us to this deal: For a limited time, as part of its early Black Friday sale, Walmart has the Lenovo Smart Clock Gen 2 for $40 — a price that includes a free Lenovo smart bulb. Normally the clock sells for $60 all by itself.
The Smart Clock Gen 2 has a 4-inch color touchscreen that can show not only the date and time, but also the weather, your favorite photos (from your Google Photos collection) and live video from various smart cameras.
That screen also automatically adjusts brightness depending on the time of day. And because it's fully "smart" thanks to onboard Google Assistant, you can set up various "routines," like a morning alarm coupled with turning on your bedside lamp.
Speaking of lamps, Walmart's listing page lacks any info regarding the included smart bulb, and there's not much on Lenovo's own site. I do know the Lenovo Smart Color Bulbs fit a standard E26 socket and normally sell for $20 each. You can use the Lenovo Link Pro app or Google Assistant to change colors, brightness and so on — but I don't know how bright this bulb can actually get. My guess is it's a 60-watt equivalent.
And, hey, it's free, so consider it a good first step into, er, smart-bulbery.
Even without the bulb, this is a very tempting deal at $40. Your nightstand is about to get a whole lot smarter!
Shopping for your mother-in-law can be intimidating. If you have a close relationship though, you might already have some ideas of what to get your mother-in-law as a holiday gift. No matter how long you've known her or what your relationship is, you’ll be able to show your mother-in-law how much you care with one of these thoughtful gifts.
All gift ideas are under $25. Don't let the size of stocking stuffers fool you: Although they're typically smaller than the presents wrapped underneath the tree, these tiny treasures can be just as exciting (when done right, of course).
