🌱 Library Events Suspended Due To COVID + BCPS Mind Over Matters

Hello, neighbors! It's me again, Nicole Fallon-Peek, your host of the Catonsville Daily.

First, today's weather:

Cooler with showers around. High: 40 Low: 39.

Here are the top stories in Catonsville today:

  1. The increase in coronavirus cases across Maryland has prompted the Baltimore County Public Library system to stop hosting in-person programs starting today, Dec. 27. While library branches will remain open to the public, in-person events will be suspended or switched to virtual until further notice. Each branch will offer the option of curbside service for those who do not want to enter, as well as virtual chats with librarians. (Patch)

  2. It may be winter break, but the Catonsville High School Comets aren't slowing down for the holiday season. The CHS girls' varsity basketball team will be playing the Reservoir High School Gators in a home game at noon today. Fan attendance may still be limited at certain games due to the pandemic, so fans should reach out to the host venue for guidance on admission and game time. (Catonsville Patch)

  3. As mental health continues to be an ongoing concern during the pandemic, Baltimore County Public Schools want to step in and help. BCPS has created a movement to raise awareness about mental health and promote wellness for students and staff called "Mind over Matters." In a recent Maryland Peace of Mind segment on WBAL-TV, program coordinator Trish Mustipher shared more details. (WBAL-TV)
