Lily Collins Has the Most Gorgeous Rose-Cut Diamond Engagement Ring

Everyone is falling in love with Lily Collins in Netflix's new show, Emily in Paris. The 31-year-old actress, however, only has eyes on one person: her fiancé, Charlie McDowell.
In the past, she has been hesitant about making her romantic relationships public. So much so, that she told Glamour UK that she doesn't "feel the need to profess anything publicly or confirm something that in a normal situation you wouldn't have to speak out about." This decision stems from her upbringing: Lily is the daughter of famed singer Phil Collins and his second wife, Jill Tavelman. "My family went through a lot of very public situations and I saw that side of it from a young age. My mum raised me to be normal, and I wanted to grow up and find out who I was and who I wanted to spend time with before anyone else did," she continued.
But everything changed when she met Charlie, a writer and director known for movies like The One I Love and The Discovery, in early 2019. Both of them knew it was serious from the very beginning, and Lily described on Live With Kelly and Ryan their meet-cute as "one of those situations where I knew the second that I met him that I wanted to be his wife one day." Shortly after meeting, the couple became Instagram official on August 20, 2019.
Fast forward a year, and the duo shared news of their engagement with the world. Charlie, 37, popped the question while the two were on a RV trip in Sedona, Arizona in late September 2020. "It was all pretty much pre-planned. He did a self-timer video, which we were then able to then later get screen grabs. But, he set the whole thing up without me knowing, obviously," Lily said during an interview on Live With Kelly and Ryan.
To announce the news, she posted a trio of photos of the moment, writing, "I’ve been waiting my lifetime for you and I can’t wait to spend our lifetime together..."
That feeling carried on: She posted a follow-up to show off her Irene Neuwirth rose-cut diamond, describing the moment as "the purest joy I’ve ever felt."
Charlie echoed Lily's excitement with an Instagram post of his own. He captioned it: "In a time of uncertainty and darkness you have illuminated my life. I will forever cherish my adventure with you."
Tons of celebrities flooded the comments with well wishes, including Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Garner, Ciara, and others. Even Charlie's mom, actress Mary Steenburgen, chimed in to offer congratulations to the happy couple: "We love you SO much! We are over the moon with happiness to have you in our family!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️"
In an interview on The Drew Barrymore Show, Lily gushed, "I truly feel like the happiest I've ever been, so I'm very, very lucky."
