The new Corvette Z06 sounds incredible. Unmodified, it lets out a ferocious screech thanks to its 670-hp-rated naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V-8 which, unlike most Chevy V-8s, uses a flat-plane crank, much like a Ferrari V-8. But it sounds even better when straight-piped.

YouTuber Street Speed 717, the same guy who was fined over $50,000 for jumping his TRX over a creek in Pennsylvania, just took delivery of a brand-new 2023 Corvette Z06. He wasted no time taking it to Fabspeed, an aftermarket exhaust manufacturer that specializes in high-end exotics.

The company has a dyno on its premises, and immediately strapped down the Z06 to see what it would put down before any mods took place. On its best run, it was able to make 640 hp and 445 lb-ft of torque at the wheels—roughly 30 more hp and lb-ft of torque than the last totally stock Z06 we saw tested on a dyno. We suspect the difference comes down to the type of dyno being used, along with things like air temperature and the number of miles on each car.

The truly interesting part of this video comes towards the end, at 18:25. It shows a clip of the Z06 revving without its stock exhaust, giving us a peek at what the engine sounds like without any restrictions. Surprising no one, it makes an absolutely phenomenal noise. It's too bad we only get a small taste, because we'd love to hear it on the road. Something tells us it'll only be a matter of time.
