'Lollipop Pouts' Are The Latest Lipstick Trend Emerging From NYFW SS25
New York Fashion Week has made a convincing case for lip stains, debuting the covetable lipstick look of the season: 'lollipop pouts'. This juicy lip was spotted at an abundance of shows, from vibrant magenta hues at Ulla Johnson to glossy berry tones at Carolina Herrera. Simkhai and Tibi also subtly opted into the trend, showcasing flushed citrus tint and pared back complexions. The best part? This lively lip is effortless to replicate at home.
Gaining its name from its fruity colour palette and post-popsicle appearance, the lollipop pout isn't too dissimilar to a classic, diffused Korean lipstick application, but has a slightly glossier hydrated final touch.
'The look for Ulla Johnson SS25 was based on the work of artist Lee Krasner. I pulled the colours from a painting adapted to a print that was in the collection,' says make-up artist, Romy Soleimani. 'The lip was a very bright fuchsia pink with more intensity of pigment on the inside of the lips. The vibe is a night blooming flower.'

To recreate the look, you need very little equipment. We recommend skipping trendy sculpting liners and applying a stain (or a plush layer bright lipstick) to the centre of the lips with a fluffy eyeshadow brush, feathering the edges for a diffused, undone finish. Think the most feminine of French girl pouts.
Fans of a matte lip can keep the look as simple as that, while drier lips will enjoy a lightweight layer of lipgloss à la Carolina Herrera. Pair the look with a pared back complexion and soft layer of matching blush for a monochromatic, lived-in look, or dress up with a playful, runway ready coloured eyeliner.
New York Fashion Week marks the beginning of the SS25 fashion season; expect to see vibrant blue lids, glossy highlights and more intricate pouts in the weeks to come.
