On this episode of 1K Dream Room, host Will Taylor (@brightbazaar) heads to Long Island City in Queens to give Tarryn’s studio apartment a bold and bright makeover. Tarryn feels her space is “very white and safe,” so she’s looking for more color and personality in the form of bold prints and wallpaper. She would also like to create more separation between her bedroom space and her living room and kitchen area. With just one day and $1,000 to spend, can Will transform Tarryn’s pad? Let’s see!

To start, Will adds some peel and stick patterned wallpaper for a no-mess, no-stress way to add a little bit of flair to a rental home. For Tarryn’s bedroom space, Will goes with a beige and white geometric wallpaper pattern. Keeping up with the patterns, Will adds a recycled checkered area rug that’s both trendy and sophisticated.

For a bold pop of color, Will gives Tarryn an upholstered burnt orange wingback platform bed that compliments the colors in the wallpaper and area rug. Next to the bed is a pencil rattan side table that adds warmth to the room, and next to her desk Will places a 5-tier ladder bamboo shelf for Tarryn to display her treasures and accessories.

Finally, to create more separation between Tarryn’s sleeping area and her living room and kitchen space, Will adds a faux linen pinch pleated curtain that Tarryn can pull across to create a partition whenever she wants.

When Tarryn sees her finished space, she is blown away. She gushes over the warm colors and tones Will has used throughout, and she’s in love with the separation curtain that Will has installed. “It still feels like my home, just a little bit better,” says Tarryn. “I feel safe, I feel at home, I feel cozy.”
