Olympic running has a tremendous history: It was the very first sport to be played at the 776 BC games in Olympia, Ancient Greece (somewhere between the future lands of Russia and Spain) — and has continuously evolved, incorporating more and more events like shot put, discus throw, and high and long jumps.
In Ancient times, Olympians didn’t wear much of anything (in fact, some ancient artifacts suggest that they wore nothing at all). But after a long hiatus, the Olympics were reintroduced in 1986 in Greece, once again. This time athletes wore clothes.
