Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli are about to fight their indictments in the college admissions scandal case in court. And according to People, Loughlin has some regrets and understands this crime—which its source wants you to understand that Loughlin did not think was a crime—has done irreparable damage to her reputation.

The source described Loughlin as remorseful. "She’s embarrassed and hurt, and she knows that her reputation has been ruined for life," the source explained. "But she also believes the allegations against her aren’t true."

Loughlin is accused of paying $500,000 with her husband to make their daughters Olivia Jade and Bella appear as rowing team recruits to guarantee their admission to the University of Southern California. The girls' admission status is being reviewed by the university, and neither Bella nor Olivia Jade have been attending USC classes since the scandal broke in March.

Loughlin doesn't get why her paying money to make her daughters falsely look like athletic team recruits is any more illegal than someone donating lots of money to have a building named after them to get their kids into the school. (Large donations may be controversial ethically, but they will not get you an indictment for money laundering or conspiring to commit fraud like Loughlin's move did.)

“She honestly didn’t think what she was doing was any different than donating money for a library or athletic field,” the source said. “That’s the crux of why she pleaded not guilty.”

Loughlin and her husband are set to appear in court on August 27. According to People's source, Loughlin would rather be in jail and just get it done with because these past couple months have been their own kind of hell.

“Lori is ready for this to be over,” the source said. “They all are. At this point, it would be better to spend a few months in jail—because she’s been spending the last several months in her own prison.”
