You know the saying, “not all heroes wear capes?” Turns out that’s true; some of them wear booty shorts.

An 18-year-old student named Andrew Nguyen has become an online hero for trading pants with his friend Diana Le so that she could take a test. We know, it doesn’t sound that great, but let us explain.

They are both enrolled in the University of Texas at Arlington, where a lot of the labs on campus have dress codes for safety conduct; in some cases, pants and closed toe shoes are a requirement “to even get into the class,” Nguyen explained to BuzzFeed.

He was in the library with Le while she was studying for her exam when she realized she didn’t have any pants to wear for the lab and panicked. They began asking everyone on the floor if they had spare pants. No one bit, so Le was left in a serious bind. That’s when Nguyen offered up his own pants. Of course, Le couldn’t have been wearing cropped pants or normal sized shorts … she was wearing teeny tiny booty shorts. But that didn’t stop Nguyen from being a gentlemen so that she could take her quiz fully covered.

Nguyen was understandably uncomfortable in Le’s turquoise running shorts, so he hid out in the bathroom and snapped a photo of himself chivalrously waiting. “My friend needed sweatpants in order to go in her lab and take a quiz so I’m just chilling in the restroom for 50 mins with booty shorts on,” he tweeted along with a mirror selfie. In the snapshot, Nguyen is sporting Le’s shorts that skim the tops of his upper thighs, a windbreaker over his T-shirt and a cap.

The photo of the courteous clothing swap has gone viral. “I thought if I’m doing a good deed for my friend I may as well get a few laughs out of it and than bam, it blew up,” Nguyen said innocently.

Even Steve Harvey is a fan:

Next time you have a lab exam, Le, at least wear something super stylish for Nguyen, if you’re not going to wear pants.
