Man arrested as woman dies a week after she was attacked by a dog
A man has been arrested following the death of a woman after she was attacked by a dog.
Sharon Jennings, 55, died a week after she was bitten by the dog in Preston.
She was bitten on the hand and neck after she intervened in a fight between the animal and her own dog in the Brookfield area on May 31.
Lancashire Police said a 49-year-old man from Preston has been arrested on suspicion of offences under the Dangerous Dogs Act.
He has been released on bail and a dog has been seized, the force said.

Ms Jennings had been walking her dog along old railway lines between 6pm and 7.30pm, police said.
After the attack, she became unwell and was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital, where she died last Friday.
Detective Inspector Chris Wellard of Preston Police, said: “While we have made an arrest I would like to stress that our enquiries into this incident are very much ongoing.
“I would like to thank the local community for their support of our investigation so far and ask that anyone who may have witnessed the incident itself, and not yet contacted us, does so as soon as possible.”
