A man has been arrested following the death of a woman after she was attacked by a dog.

Sharon Jennings, 55, died a week after she was bitten by the dog in Preston.

She was bitten on the hand and neck after she intervened in a fight between the animal and her own dog in the Brookfield area on May 31.

Lancashire Police said a 49-year-old man from Preston has been arrested on suspicion of offences under the Dangerous Dogs Act.
