The Manhattan Duplex Where Taylor Swift Shot Polaroids for Her Album ‘1989’ Can Be Yours for $3.7 Million

Ahead of Taylor Swift’s re-release of her 2014 album 1989, the Flatiron apartment where the pop phenom shot the album’s original artwork is about to enter its next era. The corner loft is located inside the historic 12-story Macintyre Building and is being offered up by Sarah Johnson, the daughter of billionaire San Francisco Giants owner Charles B. Johnson. Now, one lucky Swiftie has the chance to snap up the immortalized pad for a cool $3.7 million.

Eagle-eyed fans are sure to recognize the apartment from the Polaroid images that were included in the physical version of the Blank Space singer’s seminal 2014 album. At the time, the spread was owned by film director Tannaz Hazemi, whom Curbed reported assisted with the shoot. Most notably, the lyrics “If you leave me, I’m coming with you” are still scribbled on the inside of the door that Swift was photographed sitting in front of. Interestingly enough, the line is actually from the band Every Time I Die’s song, Buffalo 666.
The loft underwent a massive year-long renovation and comprises two separate units that Johnson combined, comprising a total of three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms. The floors are connected by a custom-engineered spiral staircase that’s made from steel and tree branches. Some of the other standout features include soaring 12-foot ceilings, exposed pipes, and 18 wood-framed windows with views of the city and Union Square.
Elsewhere, an open kitchen on the lower level is decked out with reclaimed chestnut cabinets, a Tiffany blue vintage fridge, and a custom island. Upstairs you’ll find a home office and a king-sized primary suite that is complete with a custom-designed platform bed, an ensuite bath, and a large walk-in closet.
“It’s for anyone looking for that Soho loft, back to the ’70s, edgy vibe,” broker Shane Boyle with The Agency New York told Curbed. Here’s to hoping it never goes out of style.
