Mario Lopez Has Been "Busier" Than Ever During Quarantine

From Woman's Day

For some people, stay-at-home orders have given them some time to step back from the hustle of every day life and tackle things they wouldn't have had the chance to otherwise. For others, like frontline workers, educators, and parents, just to name a few, life has been busier than ever. Even the Hollywood elite have found themselves with packed schedules, now that filming has resumed. Take Mario Lopez, who recently told Woman's Day he hasn't stopped working. The actor, 46, has spent the last several months wrapping up projects, like the highly anticipated Saved by the Bell reboot and the upcoming Lifetime movie, Feliz NaviDAD. "I think I'm a COVID Pioneer," he says, joking about how he was one of the first people to go back to work.

It seems like his children — Gia, 10, Dominic, 7, and Santino, 1 — inherited his busy gene "They've managed to stay pretty busy with all their different activities — dancing, piano, wrestling, jiu jitsu, all this stuff," Lopez says. "School is back but online, and I can't wait for them to be back in actual school because I'm an awful teacher."

Considering the business of their weekdays, Lopez and his family try to take advantage of the weekends, using those two days to rest and reset before Monday. They like to start their Saturdays with some fun activities and a big bowl of cereal. "They'll watch cartoons, or they'll make their own TikTok videos, but the cereal is constant," Lopez says. And it's been a constant for most, if not all, of his life. The actor says digging into a bowl of cereal while watching Saturday morning cartoons reminds him of his childhood. "It's funny you know when you hear a song, and it kind of takes you back? Same with food."

Lopez's love for cereal is what led him to partner up with General Mills for the Ultimate Saturday Morning Drive-In. The event, which takes place on Oct. 3 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, will allow families to enjoy the same Saturday morning routine as the Lopez family, but from the comfort (and safety) of their own cars.

If you happen to be in California, you can attend the drive-in, where they'll be taking all precautions and safety regulations recommended to stop the spread of COVID-19. If you're not in California, you can join through a livestream that will be posted on the Tribeca website that day at 10 a.m. PT or 1 p.m. ET.

To add to the nostalgia, Lopez says General Mills is bringing back the original flavors and shapes of some of their most popular cereals: Cocoa Puffs with a more chocolatey tase; Trix with its original fruity shapes; Cookie Crisp with more of a chocolate chip taste; and Golden Grahams made with honey.

His personal favorite? The new Cocoa Puffs. "It's even chocolatier," he says as he pulls out a box of Cocoa Puffs from under his desk and laughs. But rest assured, all four flavors are Lopez family-approved, so you know they'll be tasty.
