This is not a drill, SVU fans: The Benson-Stabler reunion is officially in the works!

Yesterday, Law And Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay (who plays Olivia Benson) took to Instagram to share several behind-the-scenes photos from Law and Order: Organized Crime, the upcoming spinoff series starring Christopher Meloni (as Elliot Stabler). The photos included a selfie of the two co-stars on set, as well as snapshots of their director's chairs — both printed with their characters' names on the front and the words 'Law and Order: Organized Crime' on the back.

"It's all happening ..." Mariska wrote in the caption, adding the tags #OC and #PFL (for 'Organized Crime' and 'Partners For Life,' respectively).

Needless to say, SVU fans couldn't help but go wild over the photos and express their unbridled excitement over the reunion — an event that has been long-awaited since April 2020, when it was first announced that Christopher would be reprising his role as Detective Elliot Stabler nearly ten years after he departed Law and Order: SVU in 2011.

"I just [can't] stop crying, this is really happening! After 10 years, IT'S REALLY HAPPENING," one fan commented, along with a crying emoji. "There better be ALOT of crossovers! Never seen 2 people have a better connection on the screen," another wrote.

As many dedicated SVU fans will remember, Elliot Stabler was Olivia Benson's longtime partner on the force before he abruptly retired in season 12. Now, he's set to return in Organized Crime to lead his own NYPD force — but the birth of the new spinoff series hasn't been met without setbacks. Originally, the show was supposed to air sometime in fall 2020, with Chris set to first appear as Stabler in SVU's season 22 premiere. Unfortunately, production was delayed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and a showrunner change; as of now, the show isn't expected to air until sometime in spring 2021.

Still, it seems as if the premiere of Organized Crime is right around the corner, with both Mariska and Chris continuously taking to social media this month to tease the much-anticipated on-screen reunion. Just last week, the two co-stars shared some of their first photos together on set.

"We are a little closer," Chris wrote alongside a selfie with Mariska in the background, which he posted on his Instagram. Mariska then responded with her own photo of the two of them together, writing, "Now even closer ... "

It's not known yet how many "crossovers" will occur between the two shows, but what we do know is that the 13-episode spin-off series — which will (tentatively) air on NBC at 10 p.m. ET On Thursdays, following SVU — will focus on Stabler returning to the NYPD to "battle organized crime after a devastating personal loss," according to the official synopsis from NBC. And as evident by Mariska's recent Instagram photos, there will (at last!) be a reunion between Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler — which Chris himself teased would be pretty emotional in an interview with TV Insider back in July.

"It's going to be heavily-laden with 10 years of stuff and a lot of emotion," he said. "I personally think that because there was so much gray in there and so much unsaid between these two people, it gave it such a profoundly larger life and thus has allowed it to withstand 10 years of being separated."

We'll only say this: Spring 2021 can't come sooner for us SVU fans!
