From Town & Country

We at T&C have made no secret of our obsession with Martha Stewart. She's been an icon long before Covid-19 but if ever there was a queen of #quarantinegoals, it would undeniably be her. She spent the early months of the pandemic sheltering in place on her sprawling 153-acre Bedford, New York, farm with just her driver, housekeeper, and gardener, with whom she enjoyed many a card game, and lots of Martha-ritas, in between landscaping projects. She started the pandemic-era craze for fancy pet fowl. And who can forget that gorgeous Slim Aarons-worthy poolside selfie from her East Hampton home?

But as much as she is known for her unapologetic enjoyment of the good life, 79-year-old Stewart is just as famous for her incredible work ethic. And she has certainly been productive these past seven months. In the summer, her new gardening TV series, Martha Knows Best, premiered on HGTV (the second season airs at the end of this month). In September she launched her line of what are probably the bougiest CBD gummies on the market—they're actually called pâte de fruit and come in flavors like Meyer lemon, kumquat, and blood orange (a CBD line for pets is forthcoming). And last week, she celebrated the release of her 97th (!) cookbook, Cake Perfection.

Now, she is about to become your Thanksgiving and Christmas savior. Starting next month, Stewart will lead three virtual cooking classes with Sur La Table, kicking off a new series for the kitchenware brand in which their online cooking classes are hosted by celebrity chefs.

In her inaugural class on November 12, she will demonstrate how to make carrot cake with white chocolate frosting, one of the 125 recipes in her Cake Perfection. Spots for this class are now available here for $49 (there is a class cap at 1,000 students) and your reservation comes with a copy of the cookbook. A Thanksgiving-themed class will take place on November 19, in which Stewart will prepare her family recipes, such as her mother's mashed potatoes, green beans with frizzled onions, and Pink Lady apple crisp, followed by a Christmas class on December 10. Tickets for all classes will be available at surlatable.com/martha-stewart.

While, given the current state of the world, it may be tempting to do away with all the traditions of the holidays—not to mention the work that goes into them—Stewart will surely convince you otherwise. If anything, do it for that (virtual) glimpse into her magnificent kitchen.
