Watch: Rudy Giuliani is unmasked on The Masked Singer as Ken Jeong walks out in protest
The Masked Singer in the US has aired the moment that Rudy Giuliani was unmasked as a contestant, which caused judge Ken Jeong to walk off.
The former New York Mayor had been wearing the Jack In The Box costume on the show, which sees a panel trying to guess the identities of celebrities hidden inside elaborate, colourful get ups.
It was reported earlier this year that Giuliani – a former lawyer for Donald Trump – was a contestant and his unmasking has now aired.
Clips show the judges looked stunned as his mask came off.
Comedian Jeong walked off as Jack In The Box’s identity was revealed, declaring: “I’m done.”
Giuliani has been surrounded by controversy in the US, over allegations he made misleading claims about the 2020 election.
Host Nick Cannon joked that it was a surprise to see him on The Masked Singer.
The 77-year-old explained: “I guess the main reason is I just had a granddaughter, Grace, and I want her to know that you should try everything, even things that are completely unlike you and unlikely.”
“I couldn't think of anything more unlike me and unlikely than this,” he added.
Giuliani then treated the crowd to a rendition of the song ‘Bad To The Bone’ while judges Nicole Scherzinger and Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg danced along to his vocals.
Viewers also seemed shocked about Giuliani being a part of the light-hearted show.
“Giuliani???” one person wrote on Twitter.
“Seriously? Rudy Giuliani,” said another.
One fan said the reveal was a “shocker”.
Another said: “I don’t know who thought it would be a good idea to put Rudy Giuliani on.”
“Giuliani on The Masked Singer isn't even registering as reality in my brain,” said another.
