It's not unusual for teachers to go above and beyond to help the students in their classes. But one South Dakota math teacher recently took things to the next level when he brought his whiteboard to a student's front porch to explain a problem she was having trouble understanding.

Chris Waba is the sixth grade teacher who was kind enough to make a house-call, as reported by Good Morning America. Waba had taught his class via Zoom earlier in the day, but when his student, Rylee Anderson, was struggling with her homework, he decided an in-person lesson was needed — while maintaining proper social distance, of course.

"We had really tried to work through it digitally, but you can just tell when you need to do something else," Waba said to Good Morning America. I had the whiteboard that I brought home, and I just said, 'I’ll be over in a couple of minutes.'"

Waba lives close enough to the Andersons that he was able to walk over, and according to a Twitter post from Rylee's father, Josh Anderson, Waba spent about 15 minutes helping Rylee through her homework problems from the porch.

Even with schools shut down and online learning curriculums being implemented across the country, this goes to show that teachers are always the first people to walk the extra mile — or even just down the street — for their students.
