In a mere matter of months, former Suits actress Meghan Markle will trade the Hollywood hills for Kensington Palace.

And to ensure she’s dressed for the momentous ceremony at St. George’s Chapel, the 36-year-old will be given the opportunity to choose a sparkly tiara from the Queen‘s lust-worthy royal archive.

But it just so happens, it’s not the first time the royal-to-be has donned princess-inspired headgear.

Yesterday, fan account @MeghansMirror shared a throwback photograph of the actress’ prom on Twitter.

And the revelatory snap depicts Meghan posing in a tiara and cold-shoulder lilac gown shortly after being crowned homecoming queen. A fitting coincidence, no?

According to royal expert Ingrid Seward, the former actress will have access to the Royal Highness’ jewellery archive ahead of her wedding to Prince Harry. Yet he believes that she may opt for a family heirloom instead.

“She will have access to jewels from the royal collection made available to her by the Queen,” he told US Weekly, “She can choose something suitable, but she might also have the Spencer tiara, which is also Harry’s heritage and is the one Diana wore on her wedding day.”

He continued: “Diana was very proud of her Spencer heritage and I think Harry will like his future bride to carry this tradition on.”

The Spencer tiara dates back to the 1930s and was worn by Princess Diana‘s sisters on their wedding day before it gained global acclaim at the 1981 royal wedding.

Despite being offered the Cambridge Lover’s Knot for her 2011 nuptials, the Duchess of Cambridge opted for the Cartier Halo Scroll tiara instead.

The antique was commissioned by George VI in 1936 as a gift to his wife, the Queen Mother. It was then given to Queen Elizabeth II as a pretty spectacular 18th birthday gift.
