Not even a little rain could stop Meghan Markle from smiling.
The Duchess of Sussex held onto husband Prince Harry’s arm as she arrived at The Endeavour Fund Awards in London for what is reported to be one of the couple’s last engagements as senior members of the royal family.
Photographers were eager to catch a glimpse of the 38-year-old Duchess as she made her first public appearance since the couple announced plans to “step back” from royal duties earlier this year.
Although known for her impeccable fashion sense, Markle’s latest look was all about the face, and showing off her radiant smile.
Markle reportedly flew in friend and make-up artist Daniel Martin to assist her for the Awards ceremony, choosing to off-set her turquoise $1,650 Victoria Beckham shift dress with a bold, berry lip and bronzed cheeks. Although some speculated that the dark lip was a rebellious nod to royal protocol, it’s not the first time Markle has sported the sophisticated look.
In January 2019, the Duchess attended a charity performance of Cirque du Soleil in a sparkling Roland Mouret gown with the same brown smokey eye and rich berry pout.
According to Martin, the deep berry hue is as bold as Markle is willing to go when it comes to makeup.
“The one time she did a red lip, she just didn’t feel comfortable in it,” Markle’s longtime make-up artist, Daniel Martin told People magazine. “She likes to talk and she’s not a fussy person, so she doesn’t want to worry about anything.”
A berry lip is not only the perfect alternative to a pale gloss or classic red lip, the blue and purple undertones of a berry shade will help enhance your pearly whites, making your smile look brighter, like Markle’s.
We’ve gathered some sheer berry hues for you to get Markle’s elegant look on your own.
