Leave it to Meghan Markle to discover purpose for one of fashion's oddest inventions: the sleeveless turtleneck. While the garment's elongating effect on the neck is flattering for everyone, it requires the perfect outside temperature — one that's neither too hot nor too cold for wear. That ideal setting is virtually impossible to find, but when you're taking Zoom calls for the better part of quarantine indoors, the tricky piece finally has new meaning.
Just ask Meghan, who opted for a knit version in black during a virtual call with activist Malala Yousafzai to chat about the importance of global girls' education.
The duchess teamed the turtleneck with a pair of white wide-leg trousers, which she secured with a chic belt. Maintaining her polished appearance, Meghan styled her hair in a sleek bun and wore minimal makeup.
For the interview, Meghan was joined by her husband, Prince Harry, and the couple surprised fans with a sweet update about their one-year-old son, Archie. When asked how they were spending their time in quarantine, they jokingly replied, "On Zoom."

In all seriousness, Meghan added, "But outside of that with our little one." Harry chimed in: "We were both there for his first steps, his first run, his first fall, his first everything."
Meghan explained how witnessing those milestones was a silver lining of the coronavirus pandemic. "And it's just fantastic, because I think in so many ways we are fortunate to be able to have this time to watch him grow, and in the absence of COVID, we would be traveling and working more externally, and we'd miss a lot of those moments," she said. "So I think it's been a lot of good family time."
