A day after wearing butterfly earrings that belonged to her late mother-in-law, the pregnant duchess stepped out for an appearance on her royal tour of Australia in a blazer designed by one of her most famous friends, Serena Williams.
The former actress joined Prince Harry in Dubbo, New South Wales, on Wednesday, suiting up in a simple yet chic ensemble of Outland Denim‘s Harriet skinny jeans in black, a classic white button-down blouse, and J.Crew’s Sadie suede ankle boots.
But the rainy day in the traditionally drought-stricken area — some are calling Wednesday’s showers a royal-inspired miracle — called for a stylish but sensible cover-up. Luckily, Meghan had just the thing thanks to pal Williams’s eponymous fashion line.
As the tennis champion herself gleefully noted, the duchess wore the Boss Oversized Blazer from the Serena collection. The plaid number is priced at $145 — unless you get the friends and family discount, ahem — but has already sold out thanks to a certain royal.
It’s only fair that Meghan helped Williams boost sales: She’s just returning the favor after the athlete promoted Together: Our Community Cookbook, which the duchess has taken on as her pet project.
The two stars have been friends long before the prince entered the picture. Williams and husband Alexis Ohanian were guests at the royal wedding May 19, and the pals have since reunited in England — including Meghan and Kate Middleton’s attendance at the Wimbledon women’s finals.
And with Baby Sussex due next spring, dare we say we’ve found a fab new playmate for little Olympia Ohanian?
