Why Melania Trump probably isn't facing backlash for her bare leg look like Tiffany Trump

Washington, D.C. lit up on Thursday evening as President Donald Trump and first lady Melania hosted the 95th annual National Christmas Tree lighting. The couple looked united as ever, holding hands as they made their way to address the audience, and even coordinated their festive red looks. But Melania still managed to stand out amongst the crowd in a gorgeous coat with gilded threading.

The coat from Chanel’s Pre-Fall 2017 collection (which was layered on top of a knee-length red dress), features a structured high neck, accentuated waist, and a set of pockets below the belt. It’s actually quite similar to a tweed coat recently worn by the first lady’s step-daughter Tiffany Trump.

The 24-year-old daughter of President Trump stirred up a bit of controversy when she attended the White House turkey pardoning in a deeper and much shorter version of Melania’s coat. People on Twitter commented that she should have worn tights, while the first lady got on well without them by making sure the length was appropriate.

Ivanka and Tiffany both wore their coats as their main accessories for the Christmas event as well, coordinating in white and black, rather than the first couple’s festive red.
