Melania Trump trolled over family separations after tweeting that she wants to 'positively impact children'

Melania Trump issued a statement Sunday saying that she “hates to see children separated from their families,” in reference to the migrant situation at the Texas border.

But while the first lady may officially oppose President Trump’s zero-tolerance immigration policy — in which some 2,000 children have been separated from their parents and placed in a Texas detention center — that won’t stop her from getting heat for her husband’s actions.

On Tuesday, FLOTUS hosted Spain’s Queen Letizia for a tea at the White House. She later tweeted a photo of the occasion and noted that she and the royal spent time “focusing on the ways we can positively impact children.”

The reference to children was all the fuel critics — including some celebrities — needed to chide the first lady for not pushing Trump to stop the family separations.

FLOTUS isn’t the only Trump family member to be confronted over the border crackdown. First daughter and White House adviser Ivanka Trump — who has allegedly asked her father about the policy but has remained silent publicly — has been slammed on social media. Meghan McCain also called her out during Tuesday’s The View.

Meanwhile, supermodel Karlie Kloss, who is in a long-term relationship with Jared Kushner‘s brother Joshua, was encouraged to step in after she posted on Instagram about the “heartless” policy.

“Don’t tell us to call our representatives,” one follower wrote. “TALK TO THE PRESIDENT’S ADVISER. TALK TO JARED. TALK TO IVANKA. TAKE REAL-LIFE ACTION.”

“Have your boyfriend’s brother speak to his father-in-law,” suggested another commenter.
