Melania Trump wears a $1,045 hot pink suit at the Senate Spouses Luncheon

Melania Trump is being her best — in the fashion department at least.

On Tuesday, the first lady attended the annual Senate Spouses Luncheon, where she was the guest of honor for the second year in a row. She shared on Twitter that she was “honored” to be able to represent her Be Best initiative, the controversial platform that was launched the day before.

Following in the long tradition of the group holding an annual sponsored event for the presiding first lady, Trump was invited to speak about Be Best. In a short reintroduction of the program, FLOTUS discussed her focus on children and the programs that young people have created in order to make a difference in the future.

Through Be Best, I want to help shine a spotlight on the people, organizations, and programs across the country that are helping children overcome the issues they face as they grow up,” Trump said, before thanking the group for supporting one of the organizations she has chosen to highlight. “On Veterans Day in 2015, when Preston was just 10 years old, he visited his grandfather’s grave and noticed the lack of flags and flowers on other local veterans’ graves. He decided to create a nonprofit that he called ‘Preston’s Veteran Flowers and Flags.’ […] I was so pleased when I found out that this year’s donation from the Senate spouses was donated to Preston’s Veteran Flowers and Flags. That money will make such an impact and allow him to continue his mission of honoring fallen veterans.”

Trump also took time to pose with two women from the Senate Spouses group and was pictured holding a shirt from Preston’s organization. For the event, she wore a structured pink jacket from Tibi. The piece retails for $595.

“I realized that everything I love has clean lines and is slightly feminine — not girly, but feminine,” Tibi founder Amy Smilovic said about the jacket, according to Net-a-Porter.com. The product’s description reads: “Tailored with the perfect fit and cut in mind, this slightly oversized double-breasted blazer is made from satin-twill in a fresh baby-pink hue. The coolest way to wear it is with the matching pants.”

And that Mrs. Trump did. The satin-twill tapered pants sell for $450.

The look was a departure from her more conservative color palette at last year’s event, when the first lady wore Michael Kors. However, she stuck to the classic suit jacket look.
