The Met Gala 2018 has been trending online since the fashion spectacle kicked off Monday night in New York City — and watching the night unfold through the lens of social media has so far made for hilarity.

Celebrities should have been sent a letter of warning: If you show up to the Met Gala in a lackluster outfit, you might want to avoid the internet for the next year or so.

People were taking no prisoners when it came to ensembles they deemed boring.

On the other hand, stars that actually stuck to the concept were to become the subject of memes so good they could be framed.
