Mikado, the Japanese inspired teppanyaki and sushi restaurant at JW Marriott Desert Springs, offers guests a unique dining experience. Diners can arrive via boat from the JW Marriott’s lobby or stroll the property and enter via a wooden bridge.

The restaurant houses three dining areas: a sushi bar, lounge, and main dining room. The bar and lounge are dark and intimate and offer cozy settings for a pre-dinner cocktail or glass of sake.

Signature cocktails offer the option of purchasing a ninja souvenir mug and include the Dragon Breath with citrus vodka, strawberry nigori, and fresh citrus; the Bonsai Blossom with mango rum, Malibu rum, midori, strawberry purée, and pineapple; and the Saketini with vodka, cucumber sake, and ginger.

The sushi menu includes sashimi, sushi, and rolls. Appetizers include shishito peppers, edamame, gyoza, and spring rolls. All the classics are covered.

Main teppanyaki entrees and combinations include miso soup or salad with ginger dressing, grilled shrimp, vegetables and steamed rice. Combination choices include pairing of prawns, filet mignon, shrimp, chicken, scallops, and halibut.

Skilled teppan chefs prepare single items or combinations on 14 interactive grill tables. Each table seats approximately 10 diners. During dinner, chefs offer guests the option of catching shrimp in their mouths from varying distances. Mikado also offers children’s and early bird menus.

Whether you are a guest of the hotel, a visitor to the Coachella Valley for a weekend getaway or concert, or a local looking for exceptional Japanese cuisine, Mikado is a perfect choice for an entertaining night out.
