Miley Cyrus has unveiled a bold hair transformation – dying her hair a dark brunette for the first time in 10 years.

In a new post on Instagram, the singer and actress celebrated designer Sabato De Sarno's debut Gucci show at Milan fashion week, however it was her hair which attracted followers' attention.

Miley's new look is proving to be extremely popular amongst long-term fans and friends of the star.

"Miley Stewart?" one follower wrote, referencing the singer's Hannah Montana character, who also had brown hair, as another added: "I thought this was a pic from 2009 whatttt."

Miley found global fame for her breakout role as the titular character in the Disney Channel series. The show followed teenager Miley Stewart, who lived a secret double life as popstar Hannah Montana.

Alongside a successful music career – her most recent album Endless Summer Vacation was released in March – she has since appeared in films such as The Last Song (2010) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017).

She also played fictionalised popstar Ashley O in an episode of Black Mirror titled 'Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too'.

Back in 2020, the singer opened up about her time on the Disney channel show, revealing she had struggled with the intense media scrutiny directed toward her body.

"In the past two years, I think, we've made some big progress, especially toward women and bodies," she told Rolling Stone at the time.

"The media hasn't really slut-shamed me in a long time. At one point I was like, 'Yo, when I'm 16 and you're circling my boobs and shit like that... I'm the bad guy?'

"I think people are starting to go, 'Wait, wait, wait. That was f**ked up.' They're starting to know who the enemy and who the victim was there."
