Miley Cyrus: Yes, I Am Engaged
Ellen DeGeneres did America a service this week and finally got confirmation from Miley Cyrus that the ring she’s been wearing since January - the one Liam Hemsworth gave her when he initially proposed in 2012, before their 2013 breakup - is still an engagement ring.
Ellen DeGeneres: There is a photo that got a lot of attention of your engagement ring. Are you wearing it right now?
Miley Cyrus: I am.
Ellen: Congratulations.
Miley accepted it, then made it clear why she wouldn’t just wear this if she weren’t engaged to Liam. "I actually- This is really weird because this is like real jewelry and most of my jewelry is made out of gummy bears and cotton candy, and they don’t look that good together ’cause they kind of mix up," she explained. "So sometimes I like replace it with an actual unicorn or a Looney Tune. And he’s kind of like, what’s going on? ’Well,’ I am like, ’This isn’t really my aesthetic, but I’ll wear it because you love me.’" (And there’s your real explanation for the times she doesn’t wear it, and the tabloids have a field day pretending they broke up.)
"He could have saved a lot of money by giving you, like, a gummy bear ring or something," Ellen joked.
"I know…" Miley teased.
