Millie Bobby Brown has opened up about feeling 'disrespected' after an 'uncomfortable' and strange interaction with a fan.

Last night (November 30), the 16-year-old Stranger Things star reportedly broke down in tears during an Instagram Stories, during which she recalled an incident that occurred while out shopping with her mother.

According to E! News, in the black and white instagram video - which has since been deleted from the star's Instagram Stories but captured by some fans on Twitter - Brown explained how a fan recognised her and asked to 'take a video of her' which Brown declined.

'Why would anyone want to be taken a video of?', Brown reportedly questioned in the clip. 'Of me? It's not like of the both of us.'

'I don't need to justify it to anyone,' Brown added. 'If I don't want to be taken a video of, I don't have to be.'

According to the actress, this was not enough for the fan who 'began to video again' whilst Millie was attempting to pay. In response, Brown says she asked the fan, 'I'm a human being. Like, what more can I ask from you?'

This is where the teen star then began crying, telling fans through tears: 'She said "So I can't take a video of a human being?" To which the Enola Holmes star replied: '"No, not when I said no."' It just makes me upset when people try to push the boundary, and I just wish people were more respectful.'

The actress expanded on the complexities of navigating fame this early on, touching on the issue of consent when it comes to celebrities, 'I'm still trying to navigate this all and it's still overwhelming... Where are my rights to say no?' Brown questioned.

Brown ended her impassioned plea with a call for more compassion towards others: 'You have to show more respect for others, no matter who they are, what they do, It's just manners.'

Fans of the actress have suggested that that this encounter is evidence of the important conversations we need to have about young stars and the amount of exposure fame creates. Some also speculated that this incident could be the cause of Brown's decision to recently leave TikTok with one user writing : 'I'm so upset that Millie Bobby Brown had to deactivate her TikTok. Some people really need to know what they say can hurt others.'

Brown later returned to Instagram reassure fans that she's 'totally fine now.' But that her plea for consent was an 'emotional moment because I felt uncomfortable and disrespected.'

Recently, Brown's co-star Natalia Dyer told us about struggling with fame and her decision to not take pictures with fans.

'I love talking to people but sometimes people come up and literally just say, "Can I get a photo with you?" and then leave and you feel very commodified,' the 24-year-old told ELLE UK.

'It feels very weird, it leaves you for a few hours like, "that didn't feel good". Now, if people ask, I generally say - unless they're very young - "I don't like taking pictures". But, I'd rather stop and have a real conversation. When I was living in New York, I loved walking around the city and it became very sunglasses, baseball cap and head down, and that was a little tricky. This year it’s been very chill and easier to just exist. I feel a lot more comfortable now than I did in that first year.'

The cast of the hit Netflix show are currently filming the fourth season.
