Mindy Kaling was 'nervous' for 'Vogue' photoshoot 6 weeks after giving birth: 'Postpartum pandemic fabulous'

Mindy Kaling is “postpartum pandemic fabulous” — and she’s got proof, too, in the form of a Vogue photoshoot.

On Wednesday, the 41-year-old actress shared on Instagram that just six weeks after giving birth to son Spencer in September, she posed for the cover of Vogue India’s December issue. While she was excited to be asked, actually doing it made her “seriously nervous.”

“I was not feeling body confident and even considered saying no,” she wrote. “...now I’m thrilled I have these photos as a memento of this very specific time in my life. “Postpartum pandemic fabulous” is what I like to call it.”

Fans and other celebrities took to the comments to express how great Kaling looks in a red and white-striped dress.“Omg, and this hair is VOLUMINOUS,” Meena Harris, author and niece of vice president-elect Kamala Harris said. “Yesssssss,” Rachel Roy wrote. “That’s 6-weeks post partum?!? Yeah you should definitely own this look!! You’re stunning!!!” a fan commented. “You are so beautiful! You’re amazing I hope it goes really well,” another user added.

Kaling, who had her first child, daughter Katherine, also known as Kit, in December 2017, has been open about body image in the past. In July 2019, she put up bikini photos on social media with the empowering message: “you don’t have to be a size 0” to wear a bikini.

She also previously opened up to Refinery29, saying,"Being called fat, being called not pretty, these are just weapons that men can use against women that we can't use against them." She added, "I am fairly impervious to when people say those things about me, because it's like, well, I was born this way and I can't really change that."
