Mom Makes TikTok Joking About Daughter's Trendy Name. Then Commenters Turn on Her for Choosing Not to Share It (Exclusive)
The mom's joke about "prophesying" pop culture trends stirred the pot online
A mom making a joke about her daughter's name is finding herself under fire for not sharing more details.
Anikah, on TikTok @radicalweenie, didn't think too much into sharing a video in which she jokes about her daughter's name. The TikTok, set to Ariana Grande's rendition of "Popular" from Wicked, shows Anikah working on her daughter's hair.
On screen, it reads, "She doesn't even know how trendy her name is, imagine being called [Sabrina Carpenter song] [colour from Wicked] [Taylor Swift song]. she is a walking pop culture reference."
In the caption, she wrote, "Unbelievable how I prophesized so much four years ago."
"I didn't really expect that to blow up or get as much feedback and backlash as it did," Anikah tells PEOPLE, adding, "But ultimately, it did, and it's interesting."

Anikah was surprised by how quickly the video went viral. Some people were offering genuine guesses for the name, while others were trolling with the most outlandish combinations of the three.
"That's what I love about TikTok, is the side of things where people make funny, lighthearted jokes and replies and comments. It's hilarious reading through those but the mean ones aren't as fun to read. I have deleted some because I don't like the negativity," she explains.
Anikah later posted a video confirming she wouldn't be sharing her daughter's name. While many commenters supported her decision, others thought she should share the name if she drew attention to it.
One commenter even wrote, "Won't be doing a reveal of 'a child's name' but puts her face on the internet."
"I didn't think people would really care that much," Anikah says. "I don't share her name. When I do talk about her online, I use an alias. I have a previous video that I make a joke about her name using the alias, which some people believe is her actual name because that's how the Internet works."
As the conversation in her comments section continued, Anikah was stunned by the turn her joke had taken.
"I was just making a joke about how my daughter doesn't understand how trendy it is because she's 3, so she obviously doesn't know about a lot of different things. I thought it was kind of strange that people half-expected me to tell them her first, middle and last name on the Internet," she adds.
"Obviously, I'm not going to do that because it's unfair to her. I don't need people finding us, God forbid. It was all meant to be very lighthearted."
Anikah notes that she's "barely posted" her daughter before and never intended to do so in any big way.
"I'm very careful. TikTok is still pretty new to me. I kind of just post things for my friends, not really with the intent of it taking off," she explains. "I was really thinking, 'whoever sees it, sees it.' "
She's still confused why so many are offended by her boundary.
"It's more telling to me about other people and how they respond. I made a video and made a boundary saying, 'I'm allowed to joke, but I don't want to give you guys personal information,' and they were upset. I think that's telling of the Internet these days," she says.
"People have high expectations and entitlement and I don't think you're entitled to every detail of anyone's life because they share some of it online. Anybody who is a small creator or just posting here and there should be allowed to draw their line and say, 'Okay that's enough.' "
As for future posts, "I do think I learned from this experience and I probably will share even less about my child than I did before. She might not make an appearance again on my TikTok. I'm not sure yet though. I'm definitely going to be extra careful in the future."
