Now that Monica Lewinsky’s story has officially gone Hollywood — it is the subject of the fourth season of American Crime Story — it makes sense that the famous former intern would make an appearance at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party.

The handbag designer and anti-bullying advocate opted for an ankle-length black dress, adorned with tulle and sequins — very goth goes to prom. While the bottom of the dress flared out with the layers of tulle, the top featured a black-netted layer covering over her chest and the spaghetti-strap dress.

In this dress, Lewinsky is proving she pays attention to fashion, as goth is making a comeback thanks to labels like Marc Jacobs and Adeam and celebrities like Julianne Hough, which have all taken a liking to the dark style.

However, Lewinsky showed off her peppy side — or added to the goth look, it depends how you think of red — with a pair of bright red pumps. We’re not surprised she didn’t fully commit to an intense look — Lewinsky was never one to dwell on the dark. Of course, devil red doesn’t completely contrast the drama of the dress. It just brightens it up a bit, matching her big smile and bouncy yet soft waves.

And it makes sense red was her go-to color — she clearly likes it for award shows. She was swathed in red at the 2015 Vanity Fair party. She wore a floor length plain gown with a flowing skirt and short sleeves, and she carried a matching clutch. If you don’t yet understand her love of red, look at her dress for the 2015 Tony Awards: a red off the shoulder number.

The top was lace and the bottom was flared and also cut off at her ankles. She added a red clutch and metallic heels. Lewinsky is a mainstay at the Vanity Fair Oscars parties, but 2017 was back to black: she wore a black gown to the 2016 party, too. That year she wore a strapless, floor-length dress featuring tiered ruffles. So, 2017 was the second year in a row she wore a black gown to the VF party.

We’re sensing a pattern in her award show outfits: black and red, and red and black. Hey, if it ain’t broke…
