A Mumsnet user is wondering if these cute monster leggings are too scary for a child to wear to his nursery class.

“AIBU (‘Am I Being Unreasonable’) to think it’s silly that DS (‘darling son’) can’t wear these to nursery?” user GracyEvans asked in the now viral post. “DS had some leggings on today – they’re gorgeous! They have monsters on (not scary) but apparently he isn’t allowed to wear them? They don’t have a uniform, but apparently a mom said that they scared her daughter…WTAF.”

The leggings in question are made by British baby clothing brand Fred & Noah.

One user stated: “Hah that’s ridiculous! Surely nursery staff should teach the girl that there’s nothing to be scared of rather than banning them?”

“Why would you not put any toddler in leggings? They’re so practical,” another stated. “I’d send him in tomorrow wearing them OP, it’s ridiculous.”

“They are fab leggings,” another user said. “YANBU (you are not being unreasonable).”

“That is one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard,” another user lamented. “That child must live a very sheltered life! I can’t believe the nursery actually brought it to your attention! Oh and nothing wrong with little boys wearing leggings.”

The people who were against the tot wearing the monster leggings attribute their reasoning toward being more accommodative.

“They are cute but I could see DD(3) (“darling daughter 3”) finding them scary to be fair.”

“Love the leggings and can’t see why they are scary really, however if you have an alternative go with it otherwise you’ll be labelled as ‘that’ parent,” another advised.

Another user came to a compromise: “Cute leggings (if a little pajama like) and totally practical for all the clambering around that children do at nursery. If I was a staff member I might have had a quiet word with you about what had happened but to be honest I think it would be more important to work with the little girl who was scared so that she could see they were just a pair of leggings.”

In a statement to the Huffington Post UK, Fred & Noah founder Natalie Reynolds said. “The only monsters we make are jolly ones and this Christmas we’ve even made some festive ones to match.”

Is it unreasonable that this mom’s son can’t wear “monster” leggings to the nursery or should she be more accommodating?
