The highly-anticipated first season of The Morning Show came to an end in the blink of an eye. Good news: If you've breezed through all 10 episodes of the Apple TV+ drama, the show's second season returns on Friday, September 17. Keep reading to find out everything we know about The Morning Show season 2, including cast changes, storyline details and how to watch.

When will season 2 of The Morning Show be released?

The Morning Show will return for season 2 on Friday, September 17! Initial reports said that the show would return in November 2020, but that was before the show was forced to shut down production in March 2020 due to COVID-19. According to Deadline, the show eventually resumed production on October 19 of last year.

What will The Morning Show season 2 be about?

The first teaser didn't reveal too much about season 2, but it makes it pretty clear that Alex (Jennifer Aniston) and Bradley (Reese Witherspoon) are no longer morning television's dream team. In the trailer below, we see the fallout of their split, including a hint that Alex has been replaced by a new leading man (Hasan Minhaj).

Director Mimi Leder hints that all characters — Alex, Bradley, Chip and Mitch, especially — are simply picking up the pieces in season 2: "It’s like a huge building fell on everybody and it’s about escaping from the wreckage."

Jennifer Aniston reveals that "everything is different this season," in part due to the fact that the show is now told from the female's perspective. "In season 2, we meet Alex in a very serene place," Jennifer says during a behind-the-scenes featurette. "There's a tremendous amount of guilt that she's feeling, her hypocrisy within herself." As for Bradley, Reese Witherspoon says that her character is trying "to play the game, trying to get ahead" after she steps into the #1 spot on the show.

Perhaps, this season will be even more dramatic than the first — at least that's what Reese says. "We have more bigger storylines, much bigger and much more impactful than you could ever imagine," the actress continues.

Will the entire cast — Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, especially — return?

As of right now, the entire cast of The Morning Show is expected to return for a second season, including stars Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Steve Carell, Billy Crudup and Mark Duplass. Although some fans thought Mitch's last scene in the season 1 finale hinted that this might be the end of the road for him, Deadline confirmed that Steve signed on to return as a series regular in season 2 just weeks before the show resumed production.
