Will There Be a Mrs. America Season Two?

From Town & Country

Mrs. America was destined to win dedicated fans, what with its stellar cast and rich relevant historical material. But only one, nine-episode season was produced, leaving devotees wondering if there's any chance of more being made—especially after it received praise from critics, and a whopping 10 Emmy nominations.

Sadly, it's unlikely that we'll see a Mrs. America season two, largely because it was always billed as a limited series. But there's still a small chance it'll return—here's why.

The showrunner believes there's "more story to be told," but knows it would be hard to do.

These days, miniseries are becoming more and more common, in part because the limited commitment on the actors' part helps producers secure high-caliber talent. (And when fans clamor for further episodes—like with Sharp Objects—the logistics of getting the cast back together are often cited as why it can't be done.)

When Vanity Fair asked Mrs. America showrunner Dahvi Waller directly about the possibility of a season two, she also mentioned the difficulty of reuniting the actors—but didn't entirely shut it down. "I don’t know that we would have been lucky enough to get the cast that we were lucky to get if it weren’t a limited series. That’s the great thing about limited: you can get actors who can’t commit to five years," Waller said. "But... you just never know. Fargo was supposed to be a limited series, and now it’s on season four. There’s definitely more story to be told."

Regardless, we'll always have season one.

Mrs. America is exclusively available on Hulu, through FX's "FX on Hulu" arrangement. All nine episodes are available to stream now.
