To bring their A-game to the red carpet, celebrities go through numerous hours of hair, makeup and skincare prep before any award ceremony. And the 71st Annual Emmy Awards were no exception.

Below, we break down how our favourite stars got ready for the biggest night of primetime television and even included a few must-have products to help create their red (purple in this case) carpet-ready looks.

Kristin Cavallari

Lighting up the Emmy purple carpet, Cavallari wore a vibrant canary yellow gown by Nicole + Felicia Couture and point-toe heels to match. With hair playing a huge role in her golden look, celebrity hairstylist Justine Marjan styled her hair in cool-girl waves using TRESemmé Thickening Balm to prep and prime damp hair before heating styling and finished with TRESemmé Volumizing Dry Shampoo for additional texture.

Julia Garner

Pretty in purple Cong Tri, the Ozark star’s beauty team kept things cool and chic with a clean-parted twisted low bun and bronzey makeup. Canadian-raised celebrity makeup artist Hung Vanngo used Chanel skincare and makeup to prep Garner’s skin before accepting her big for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. For Garner’s eyes, Vanngo used Chanel’s Les 4 Ombres in shade Leures Ambrees. As for the lips, he used Rogue Allure Ink Liquid Lip Color in shade 204-Metallic Bronze.

Kim Kardashian

While the reality TV star lacked in points in fashion, she did, however, score major points in beauty. To help prep and prime Kardashian’s signature contoured, smokey look, longtime makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic primed her skin with the fan-favourite Tatcha The Silk Canvas Primer. He also finished the look with the Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist to set her makeup and for an extra boost of hydration.

Alex Borstein

Just hours before giving her powerful acceptance speech, Prime Original’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star shared how she prepped her skin for the Emmys by posting a selfie using Klorane’s Smoothing and Relaxing Patches, captioning the post, “While each #Emmy passenger is allowed two bags on the red carpet, I prefer to go bagless.” Aside from arriving “bagless” with bright, youthful skin, Borstein worked the red carpet in a monogrammed dress.

Mandy Moore

After Moore’s first dress fitting with Brandon Maxwell, hairstylist Ashley Stricher saw the silhouette of the dress she decided to channel a ‘90s Cindy Crawford-inspired look. To create the This is Us star’s large, voluminous curls, Streicher used the Garnier Fructis Style Flexible Hold Hairspray to prime and add grit to the hair before going in with the T3 Singlepass Curl Iron.
