Naomi Osaka Perfectly Shut Down Comments On Her Bikini Photos That Were "Creeping" Her Out

"Why do you feel like you can comment on what I can wear?"

Let's get one thing straight: it's never OK to shame a woman about what she is wearing, what she looks like, or how she chooses to post about her own body. And tennis superstar, Naomi Osaka highlighted exactly why. On Osaka's Instagram page, she posted a photo of herself standing by a pool wearing a yellow string bikini with the caption," Welp mornin' to you I guess."

And while there were several positive comments, some people decided to take the moment to tell her that she shouldn't post wearing a bikini and that she should stay "innocent." In response, Osaka went on Twitter and called these people out in the perfect way.

"I just wanna say it’s creeping me out how many people are commenting @ me to maintain my “innocent image” and “don’t try to be someone your not." You don’t know me, I’m 22, I wear swimsuits to the pool," she wrote. "Why do you feel like you can comment on what I can wear."

For starters, there is nothing innocent or otherwise about wearing a bikini. It is a swimsuit. And besides, Osaka is right: Commenters don't know her and cannot police what she wears or what she posts.
