Zac Efron Revealed That He Struggles With Agoraphobia, And He Avoids Going Out Because Of It
Zac Efron is very famous. He's been in plenty of stuff that everyone's seen, and he's easily recognizable to the majority of the general public.
Just because a celebrity seems like they're everywhere, though, doesn't mean that they actually want to be.
And as it turns out, the pressure to be present in public life is something that Zac struggles with specifically.
In a recent interview with Men's Health, Zac revealed that he struggles with agoraphobia, which the Mayo Clinic defines as "a type of anxiety disorder in which you fear and avoid places or situations that might cause you to panic and make you feel trapped, helpless, or embarrassed."
So, if you've wondered why you don't see as many candid snaps of Zac out and about as you do of other celebs, now you know the reason.
“I just don’t go out,” he explained in the interview. “People in large groups, it triggers my agoraphobia.”
If you've been following the news this week, then you know that Zac's agoraphobia disclosure was one of a few things that he opened up about in this particular profile.
He also revealed that the process of attaining his "look" for 2017's Baywatch reboot film led to him suffering from a "pretty bad depression."
"Something about that experience burned me out," he said. "I had a really hard time re-centering. Ultimately, they chalked it up to taking way too many diuretics for way too long, and it messed something up.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, diuretics "help rid your body of salt (sodium) and water."
