Paper slammed for accusing Meghan Markle of showing off her baby bump while praising Kate Middleton: 'Racist much?'

Since announcing her pregnancy last fall, Meghan Markle has been mocked for apparently cradling her growing belly too much. Now, a British newspaper is scrutinizing the mama-to-be’s maternity style — and her supporters are sick of it.

Last week the Daily Express published an article picking apart the 37-year-old’s preference for form-fitting dresses and “coats that she can’t do up,” which it claims is because the duchess is “making sure her bump is taking centre stage.”

“While many previous royals would keep their bumps discreetly ‘veiled,’ Meghan’s styling show she’s obviously excited about becoming a mother,” the article noted, citing a stylist and a body language expert who said the duchess “flicks” away her undone coats to show off her stomach.

But the media attention is wearing thin with royalists and fans of Meghan. Critics have accused the newspaper of being invasive, with some calling the coverage hypocritical given its past glowing coverage of Kate Middleton, who gave birth to her third child last April. Others even accused the paper of treating Meghan differently because she is biracial.

Journalist Soledad O’Brien and actor Samuel West were among those slamming the coverage of Meghan.

The duchess was also the subject of a recent Daily Mail article questioning whether her habit of touching her belly was “pride, vanity, acting or a New Age bonding technique.” That too was met with criticism.

Other moms have remarked that Meghan touching her baby bump is a completely natural instinct for a pregnant woman.
