Nicki Minaj Is Pregnant and Expecting Her First Child with Husband Kenneth Petty

Nicki Minaj shared some big news on Monday: She’s expecting her first child with husband Kenneth Petty.

The 37-year-old rapper started the week off by posting three photos of herself, her stomach bared in all of them. “#Preggers,” Minaj captioned the first image, in which she cradles her stomach. In the third photo caption, Minaj wrote, "Love. Marriage. Baby carriage. Overflowing with excitement & gratitude. Thank you all for the well wishes."

Minaj wed Petty, 42, in October of 2019 after taking their relationship public in 2018. One month ahead of the wedding, Minaj publicly shared her decision to “retire and have my family.”

"I've decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me … Love you for LIFE," she tweeted.

Back in 2014, Minaj expressed her desire to have children, telling Complex she felt she was “put here to be a mother.”

“If I'm done with my fifth album and I don't have a child by then, no matter how much money I have, I would be disappointed, as a woman,” she told the publication. "I have definitely put off the wife thing because I don’t want people in my business. I’d rather not do anything that’s going to be on paper but I definitely will be married before I have my baby. I want to make sure I do it in that order.”
