Nicole Kidman Tears Up Over Being an Older Mom: 'I Would Like to Be Here Long Enough to See Them Thriving'

For Nicole Kidman, being an older mother isn't always easy.

The 49-year-old actress, who has two daughters with husband Keith Urban, teared up while sharing how she hopes to be around long enough to watch her children "thriving."

"It makes me sad -- I would just like to be here long enough to have my children grow up and for me to see them thriving," Kidman, who also has two children (Connor and Isabella) from her previous marriage to Tom Cruise, said on CBS Sunday Morning. "That's all I ask. And that my husband and I are with each other. Simple! Simple requests."

Asked why the idea of her children getting older makes her so emotional, Kidman responded, "Just wanting to be here. I'm an older mother, so, you know…"

"Oh, please [let me be here.] Please, please," she continued. "But, hey, what will be, will be."

Loving motherhood, the 49-year-old Australian actress relishes her downtime in Nashville, Tennessee, where the famous family is based.

Both Sunday and Faith, her children with Urban, were born in the country music town. "My little girls are Southern girls -- they say, 'Y'all,'" Kidman shared.

Understandably, the idea of not being around to watch her children grow up may be weighing on Kidman's mind even more following the death of her father, Dr Tony Kidman, in 2014.

The Oscar winner opened up about the devastating loss and how Urban, 49, carried her through her grief.

"I knew at some point that was going to come," she admitted. "But boy, when it comes, it lays you out. It laid me out. I was like, 'I don't even know how to get up from this.'"
