Nicole Richie's 'very specific shower routine' involves moisturizing with grapeseed oil

If there are two things besides fashion that Nicole Richie takes seriously, it’s daily showers and skin care.

“I have a very specific shower routine of soap, grape seed oil, lotions [and] oils,” she tells Yahoo Lifestyle, noting that she keeps a bottle of grapeseed oil in her shower to use as a body moisturizer. “My mom has been telling me from the day I was born, I was never allowed to leave the house without lotion on my body,” she says of her meticulous routine. “It’s just what you have to do. I, from a very early age, was taught that your skin has to be moisturized and taken care of, that the epidermis is the largest organ on your body, and you have to take care of it.”

As for her daily beauty regimen, she adds, “Then I have an entire skin routine also that is consistent: of a face wash, a toner, a mask, lotion and face oil.” Richie says she doesn’t step out of the shower until she completes her head-to-toe moisturizing regimen. “I don’t step out of the shower until I’m fully moisturized,” she says. “I have space in my shower where I [apply] oil and lotion — I do everything in my shower, and then I get out.”

The first thing she does after her nightly shower? Slip into a cozy pair of pajamas before hitting the sack. “I take a shower every night, right before I go to bed — that’s my routine.” Ahead, shop the nighttime style and beauty essentials she swears by.
