Niecy Nash stunned the world in August with her fabulous wedding to singer Jessica Betts. But the Emmy Award-winning actress-comedian has been stopping the show since long before that, with roles on shows including Clean House, Reno 911, The Mindy Project, Claws, and many others, along with movies like Selma and the Netflix limited series When They See Us. Nash talks with InStyle editor-in-chief Laura Brown about the relentless inner drive that has taken her all the way to the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
"Very, very early on, I started to live by three words, and those three words were 'no matter what,'" she told Brown. "You don't have a babysitter? Pack them kids up, cause get to that audition no matter what. You have a fight with your husband when you got to go drive across town and be funny, you better cry all the way there and get out the car and fix your face, no matter what."

The actress also opened up about her sexuality and her past and present relationships and her marriage to Betts.
"It wasn't that I was married to men and had a desire to be married to a woman. Just that I loved the people that I loved when I loved them," she said. "And that's it. I don't have a 'this was my turning point' moment. What I'll tell you was that I'm a lover and I'm a marryin' woman, and I don't stay long on the streets."
