Nissan’s New All-Electric 1,300 HP Concept Could Be the Next GT-R
Nissan saved the best for last.
The automaker unveiled its fifth and final EV concept for the Japan Mobility Show, the Hyper Force, on Wednesday. The high-performance coupe has a powertrain that can produce an exhilarating 1,300 hp and a muscular design that suggests the marque is thinking about making an all-electric GT-R.

The muscular prototype looks as extreme as you’d expect a vehicle named the Hyper Force to look. The dramatically proportioned body has a bare-metal finish and even more razor-sharp edges than the Tesla Cybertruck. Unlike that EV, though, there’s something awfully familiar about the concept. That’s because it basically looks like a current-generation R35 GT-R dressed up in an insane body kit that exaggerates everything from its nose to its side panels to its already large rear wing. And just in case all that wasn’t enough, the front end features an illuminated badge that’s too blurry to make out but looks just like the famous GT-R logo.
The Hyper Force’s scissor doors open to reveal an interior as over-the-top as its exterior. The Tron-style cabin has a multi-layered dashboard outfitted with several moving displays and a yolk steering wheel. From the images provided by Nissan, it looks like the concept has only two seats, both of which feature four-point seatbelts and rigid carbon seatbacks. The concept has two driving modes, grand touring (“GT”) and racing (“R”)—see what they did there?—both of which have their own dedicated mood lighting, blue for the former and red for the latter.
Nissan didn’t say too much about the powertrain, but the Hyper Force will supposedly pump out 1,341 horses and get its juice from a solid-state battery that helps keep weight down. It also features Nissan’s e-4ORCE technology, meaning it has all-wheel drive. No other specs or performance figures have been announced, but that’s a promising start.
So, is the Hyper Force a preview of the R36 GT-R? Only time will tell, but the concept has enough details to hint that Nissan does plan to eventually produce a battery-powered version of its range-topping sports car. Hopefully, its launch isn’t too far off.
