Noah Schnapp has said his sister is his “bestest friend in the entire world”
While Noah Schnapp’s Stranger Things character may have an older brother, in real life, he has a twin sister.
The star publicly came out as gay in January 2023, revealing the news in a TikTok video. He reflected on this moment less than a year later during his interview with the outlet, explaining that he decided to share the video on Jan. 5, 2023, after his family dropped Chloe back off at college. He even posted the video on the drive with his family back to their home in Westchester, New York.
The actor’s decision to come out was fueled by a series of events, including starting college. He said that when he started school at UPenn, he had met a group of new people, explaining, “All these new girls were starting to hit on me, and I was like, ‘I don’t like this. I don’t want this. ’I was like, ‘Holy s--t. I know now.’ ”
When he came home the following weekend after his realization, so he could see his sister off to college, he made the decision to tell his sister. As for her reaction, Noah said, “She was ecstatic.”
“She said that she would’ve hated the idea of me marrying another girl and having to compete with that girl for my attention,” he explained. “The fact that now it’ll be a guy, she was like, ‘Oh, he’ll be my best friend.’ ”

She was born in 2004
Karine Schnapp and Mitchell Schnapp welcomed their twins Noah and Chloe Oct. 3, 2004, in New York City.
Noah having a twin sister came as a surprise to many fans. In April 2016, the actor shared this detail with his fans on the social media site X, formerly known as Twitter. He responded to a fan who had written, “@noah_schnapp i just find out now you're a twin and i'm........HOW?????” In a repost, Noah replied, “Fraternal twins. Her name is Chloe.”
On their 18th birthday in October 2022, Noah shared a sweet carousel post of photos of the brother-sister duo throughout the years.
In the caption, he penned a sweet message to his sister, writing, “Happy birthday to my twin sister and truly bestest friend in the entire world. Couldn’t imagine this life without you. Here’s to 18.”
She was the first person Noah came out to
Noah revealed during his Variety interview that his twin sister was the first person he came out to, noting, “I can’t tell anyone else before I tell my own twin sister — she’ll kill me.”
“I was driving, and I just kept putting it off,” he explained. “Our house was right down the road, and she was like, ‘Why do you keep making these wrong turns?’ I was like, ‘I can’t do it, I can’t do it.’ Then we got home, and I was like, ‘Screw it.’ ”
However, when Noah went back to college at Penn, he said he went back to “blatantly hiding” his sexuality, which he said “made everything miserable for those months.” Eventually, Noah’s mom visited him at school to check in on him.
“I couldn’t tell her how I was feeling without telling her what the problem was, so just one night at dinner, I was like, ‘This is it,’ ” he said. “She was like, ‘Finally, you told me!’ ”
She goes to college in Boston
While Noah attends college at University of Pennsylvania, Chloe chose another school on the east coast — Northeastern University in Boston.
According to her LinkedIn, after graduating from Scarsdale Senior High School in June 2022, she went on to attend the D'Amore McKim School of Business at Northeastern University to study marketing in pursuit of a Bachelor’s in Business Administration.
At Northeastern, she is part of the Sigma Delta Tau sorority. In addition to Greek life, she is a member of the Women In Business club, too.
On social media, Chloe documents her life in Boston with her group of friends. In January 2023, she shared a carousel of photos on Instagram, including one solo snap of her brother posing in a winter jacket. In the comments, Noah wrote, “I love boston,” and teased his sister’s intentions behind his visit, adding: “I think u only wanted me to visit to take ur insta pictures.”
She had her own jewelry business
From September 2020 to August 2022, she served as the CEO of her own jewelry company called ChloeBelle Jewelry. Though she ceased the project in August 2022, the company’s Instagram page is still live, featuring dozens of photos of the merchandise.
On LinkedIn, Chloe said that she both created and promoted handmade jewelry through her online store as a means of allowing “young women to express themselves.”
She shared that ChloeBelle Jewelry’s stock was composed of products from vendors both in Asia and the United States. Chloe also shared that a portion of proceeds earned from sales were donated to the nonprofit Solving Kids' Cancer, raising a total of $9,000.
She balances school with her career
Since graduating high school in June 2022, Chloe has had several job opportunities, including a short stint as a sales associate at The Apawamis Club the summer before she went off to college.
In March 2023, she started working as a marketing manager for The Ladyboss Podcast, describing her job tasks on LinkedIn as creating content for social media, creating seasonal podcast ideas and themes, as well as managing a variety of social media accounts for the podcast.
In May 2023, while continuing her role with The Ladyboss Podcast, she became a Social Media Ambassador for Jake Rosen Entertainment, and is currently working with Planet Fitness.
She’s appeared on his YouTube channel
Though Noah hasn’t posted on his YouTube channel since October 2020, Chloe made several appearances on her brother’s channel, including two of the final videos he posted.
In one video, titled “Reacting to Our Old Videos,” Noah and Chloe enlisted the help of their parents to uncover footage from their childhoods for them to watch on camera. Throughout the nearly six minute long video, the brother-sister duo giggled at their family memories, which included moments from school, at home, on vacation with their parents and more.
Chloe also appeared in another video called “How Well Does My Sister Chloe Know ME?” where she tried to answer a series of questions about one another. Though Noah ultimately beat Chloe 4-3 in the game, several details about each sibling were revealed including how much Chloe wanted to see a Jonas Brothers concert and her love/hate relationship with working out, as well as the fact that she had appendicitis, which she said was her worst pain.
She likes to travel, including vacations with her brother
Chloe has documented her travels over the years on social media, sharing snaps from across the world.
She shared multiple photos from her trip to Greece in fall 2022, sharing a carousel of photos capturing her travels in Mykonos and a pre-birthday weekend in Crete. After her 18th birthday, she also shared snaps from Rome in October 2022 and a snap of one of her meals in Los Cabos, Mexico, from a December 2022 trip.
In addition to her travels with friends, Chloe and Noah have taken several trips together. In August 2022, she shared multiple snaps from her family vacation trip to St. Barts, posing in a patterned swimsuit in one snap.
She also shared an end-of-summer photo slideshow, which included a snap of herself posing with her brother in their evening attire. They also spent time in Israel together in August 2019, and also enjoyed time in the Hamptons in July 2023.
