Noel Gallagher has accused brother Liam Gallagher of making up his claim that Oasis have been offered £100m for a reunion tour.

The Wonderwall singer denied his younger brother’s claims that he had turned down the lucrative offer to reunite the Britpop band, implying Liam, 47, was just trying to boost publicity for his music.

Noel, 52, tweeted: “To whoever might be arsed: I am not aware of any offer from anybody for any amount of money to reform the legendary Mancunian Rock’n’Roll group Oasis. I am fully aware though that someone has a single to promote so that’s maybe where the confusion lies.”

Liam has just unveiled the music video for his single Once featuring former Manchester United footballer Eric Cantona. Noel is famously a Manchester City fan.

Noel has recently released his own new single Blue Moon Rising.

Liam tweeted on Monday 4 January: “Wahey we’re getting back together. Noel Gallagher being minted and rich as f*** he’s doing it for nothing me being a desperate **** and have f*** all else going for himself I’m doing it for the cash c’mon you know LG x”

He then added: “We’ve been offered 100 million pounds for a tour still not enough for the greedy soul oh well stay young LG”

Noel and Liam fell out during a backstage fight at a festival in Paris in August 2009. Noel quit Oasis and the brothers are not thought to have spoken since.

Both brothers have had successful solo careers since going their separate ways. Liam was also the lead singer of Beady Eye, with guitarists Gem Archer and Andy Bell and drummer Chris Sharrock, all former members of Oasis.

Noel started a new band, High Flying Birds, and as the writer of many of Oasis’s big hits earns money for them when Liam performs them live.

In January, Liam claimed on Twitter that Noel had contacted him, “begging” to get the band back together.

He tweeted: “I intend to retire as solo artist after album no3 as I have just had a call from my brother begging me to start oasis again in 2022 if you believe in life after love c’mon you know LG x".

Noel told TalkSPORT radio: “I’ve been listening to the show… and re: ‘The Reunion’, sadly I think the other fella must have been on the leftover Christmas Babycham... For the record, until anyone hears it from ME, it’s not happening.”
