Noel Gallagher reckons the US is to blame for the sexualisation of women - and he's got some choice words to say about Miley Cyrus on the matter.

Recalling Cyrus' recent performance of her song Midnight Sky at the VMAs last month where she sat atop a huge disco wrecking ball, he branded her a "god awful woman".

The Oasis member also claimed his nine-year-old son Sonny noticed a lot of attention was being paid to the 27-year-old's legs.

The 53-year-old told the Daily Star newspaper's Wired column: “That god awful woman Miley Cyrus was on. She was doing some f***ing s*** and even my nine-year-old said, ‘Why is the cameraman just filming her legs?’”

“Women have been sexualised because of America, British culture would never sexualise a female. This has all come from America – that juvenile, jock, stupid f***ing culture.”

It comes as Cyrus said she experienced sexism at the hands of a director when it came to her VMAs performance when she requested a certain type of lighting.

“They said, ‘Okay, we’ll just do the same thing that we would do with the guys,’ because that’s what I want,” she shared with Joe Rogan on his Joe Rogan Experience podcast.

“And then something that I was doing… for the VMAs, my bracelets kept getting caught in all this s*** and they said, ‘You want to be treated like a guy? We wouldn’t be dealing with this if a guy was doing it.'”

The Malibu singer said she then told them "a guy doesn't sell your show with sex the way that I'm going to".

She's also previously spoken about feeling empowered by her sexuality.

Speaking in 2019, she told Elle: "I like the way being sexual makes me feel, but I’m never performing for men. They shouldn’t compliment themselves to think that the decisions I’m making in my career would have anything to do with them getting pleasure.

"I don’t think that because some guy thinks I’m hot he’s going to buy my record. It doesn’t help me."
