Do not trust your smart TV, FBI warns - here’s how to protect yourself

The FBI are advising the public to secure their smart TVs or risk being “silently cyberstalked” or harassed by hackers with remote access to their devices. In 2019, hackers reportedly hijacked Google’s Chromecast streaming stick and broadcast random videos to thousands of victims that could also be shown on their connected TV. The Washington Post also revealed in September that smart TV makers like LG and Samsung were gathering massive amounts of data about their customers’ viewing habits to boost traffic and targeted advertising.
