President Barack Obama sat down with us to talk about what Grace means to him and how he sees it in the world. He also talks about the most influential women in his life, Michelle, Malia, and Sasha, and what makes them such badass women.

Malia and Sasha Obama just joined their parents for a sweet new family photo.

The Obamas sat down for a rare family picture together for the latest issue of People, ahead of the release of Barack Obama's memoir, A Promised Land. In the photo, the former president can be seen in a navy blue suit, while Michelle Obama wears a pleated light blue and white dress. Malia can be seen in a floral dress, with Sasha in a white spaghetti strap dress. The photo was taken by Pete Souza, the former Chief Official White House Photographer for Ronald Reagan and Obama.

Barack Obama told People that his daughters, who had both gone off to college, have been staying with him and Michelle amid the coronavirus pandemic.

"Malia and Sasha have been with us almost continuously since March, with just a few breaks," he said. "Like a lot of families who are lucky enough not to have to worry about losing a job, or a family member getting sick, there are times where it's felt claustrophobic, I'm sure, for them. But for Michelle and me as parents, to have this bonus time where your kids are having dinner with you every night and we're playing games and watching movies together — there's been a lot of joy to that."

"I think part of what's been also wonderful is seeing Malia and Sasha become such great friends," he said. "They've got a three-year gap between them, and when one is 16 and the other one's 13, there's still that sister competition. 'Did you grab my halter top? Where is it? Why haven't you returned it? Why are you doing this, why are you doing that?'"

22 year-old Malia is currently in her senior year at Harvard University, while 19-year-old Sasha is a sophomore at the University of Michigan.

"Now they're both old enough, where they just enjoy each other's company, and to be together as a family and see how they've become these marvelous young women — there's been no greater joy than that," Obama said.
